Active Polish Community supports Polish artists in the UK
We are beginning an operation in a new direction. Not only do we want to promote Polish accents in the music world but also beyond. We invite all who create, present, have an audience on the Islands, or are just thinking about getting started.
Let's log in and help Aneta Barcik to win the biggest Polish contest in London
Aneta Barcik charmed audiences in Luton during the finals of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. Now the competition starts and we can help her to win. If she wins, she will be given a chance to perform together with Lady Pank at O2 arena situated near by Shepherds Bush, in London.

Below is an interview with the band Why Not Here, which we were able to conduct during the Luton Summer Festival.
LESERO PROD deals with a wide range of fields, which is music production. The main direction of what they chose is rap and hip-hop, however they are familiar with other foreign musical fields. Lesero prod has several years experience in the production and implementation of the recordings. On daily basis they work with several artists such us: MIKE GLC, and The Only D.2.1
Lesero Prod cooperation with The Only D.2.1
Some of us think there are situations that do not happen by accident.
So it happened this time... (I thought so).
Lesero Prod, a producer group with Polish origins, with the willingness to develop its activities moved to the UK. Then, co-operated with the Englishman, the rapper known as The Only D.2.1. Being brought up by the streets of New York and associated with BLACKMOBB Entertainment, he sold on the streets of the UK about 40,000 CDs of his work from the Rap genre. Lesro Pro created music based on a little-known artists in Poland have also a few titles on their account. One of them is a compilation of "City Landscape" of 2005, however, in both cases, it can be said about the closure of a certain stage in their work.
Willingness to occur, development, professional approach to matters of music, directs them to the same path. A result of those actions is "Pain Album." It is the first 58-minute album of the genre of rap, hip-hop, which was developed in collaboration The Only D.2.1 with Lesero Prod. Two videos starred by Tomasz Porębski promoted the album. The first is "Cuz I Hustle" filmed on the streets of London, and the second video clip from the album is called "Stay With Me." Lesero along with D21 were in the process of working on their second joint album, which was released in the first half of 2009.

Interview with the band Why Not Here conducted by Sebastian Doliński during the Luton Summer Festival 2009. Welcome on behalf of the Active Polish Community at Luton Summer Festival 2009.
Sebastian> Are you the generation of exile, or were born in the UK?
Paweł> We are definitely a generation of exile.
S> What were your musical beginnings in the UK?
P> We met via the Internet. There was our first interview. Then there was the first attempt and since then it has been carried on somehow. Now we have played together for almost one and a half year, since 2008. Of course, we started playing in Poland and this is where our musical path has begun
S> I saw a programme Newsnight on British television with your participation. What are your feelings after this program? Has anything changed after you took part in it?
P> In total, could have been better if we were more prepared. We took part in it a little bit of momentum and we believe we could to show our better side. But in overall, the BBC's performance is a nice reminiscence and interesting experience and that's it.
S> Well, if you are going to take part in something like this, you will be able to use the experience gained earlier.
P> No doubts about it.
S> There are people with us in Luton, who are trying to create a band. Can you share with them some experiences with the beginning of your band? What mistakes should they try to avoid?
P> Be careful not to overdo the alcohol (laughs). Being completely honest, they need to play, play and play again - there is no other way. You have to experiment with music, choose the right people
S> Why did you choose to play in the UK? Was your emigration motivated by the economic considerations?
P> I came here to make music in the UK. Here is the heart of show business. But also for economic reasons. Nevertheless, they were not the main reasons.
Matthew> I was curious. That curiosity has brought me here. Not running away from anything. I came, I liked it and stayed.
S> Wouldn't you rather want to play in Poland?
P> I started playing in Poland, even had some small successes, but one day just looked in the mirror and saw that the time is running out, and realised that something must be done. You must make your mind up either this or the other way.
S> So when is your next concert?
M> Our next concert will take place on August 22th in Northeast at the Eastern European Festival.
S> In your band there is also a Bulgarian musician.
P> Yes, we call him Edward. We also met via the Internet. He took part in an online casting, and stayed with us (laughs).
And what are your future plans?
M> I'd like to set up a family (laughs).
This is a serious plans...
P> We want to play as much as possible, it is our goal.
S> Do you think you need someone or some institution that would sustain Polish artists in the UK?
P> On the one hand there is someone you need. On the other hand, in London there are so many promoters. We want to play for the Polish audience, but we also have to remain open minded. Creating a musical ghetto is not in our interest. Instead, we need to jump in at the deep end.
S> In that case, I think that today's event is a good place for you, because we try to present our Polish community to others.
P> Indeed, we are pleased that we can play here in Luton, thanks to Active Polish Community.
S> What would you like to say that Polish people? (Question to Ed Yordanowa)
Ed> It is a lovely experience to play for Polish people and I really enjoy it.
S> Where can I find more information about you?
M> Check out our website at www.why-not-here.com
S> Thanks for the interview, see you and hope to hear you soon.
Porozmawiajmy o tym na Forum...
