What have we done so far?
Active Polish Community was established in November, 2008. Since then, we have undertaken and participated in a vast number of projects, an example might be a charity action called " Give smile to children" conducted by us. We did our best to promote Polish community during the International Cultural Day, Luton Summer Festival, Taste of Luton - cultural food festival and the Bushmead christmas Festival. Moreover, we helped to organize tours for Boxing Club- Strike 06.
Furthermore, we supported the information campaign The Polish vote, we spoke out about the need to maintain "Domu Poloni" for Polish inhabitants living in Luton. On Monday's at 6pm, you have a chance to listen to our broadcast that is available on Diverse FM 102.8.
On top of that, we met with the authorities of Luton and London City, the representatives of political parties, schools and Police in order to make them aware of the Polish community needs. Having launched a league for the Pro Evolution Soccer players and a theatrical group for the youngest "Zielona Dolina", we wanted to fulfill the spare time with certain activities.
How can we help?
We help out a several people each day. Their issues we deal with, mostly regard the Supplementary Welfare Allowance, Unemployment, Health Care, Housing and Debt Advice.
We are working in partnership with Police, helping those who fell victim to fraud and scam. Providing an access to psychologists and social pedagogues, we offer support for those engaged in fighting addiction or family violence. Recently, we have noticed an increasing number of aggression and racist attacks on our children. We are aware that it is the issue and regards a majority of teenagers in the UK. The Active Polish Community's always ready to be of assistance, particularly to those families, in which the kids have been bullied, hit, molested or degraded at and outside of their schools. Let's stop the outbreak of violence which leaves the imprint on our children.
Why do we need money?
The help of the Active Polish Community could be more effective if we would have an office, where people in need could pop into. Such place, will be used as an information point as well as a meeting place for volunteers and other people using our services. Unfortunately, as always it is a matter of money and we simply cannot afford it at the moment. Therefore, we figure on you. Every single payment will be donated for renting and upkeep of the office. We are talking about a few hundred pounds a month. So every penny counts!! If you make a donation, you will became a founder of our organisation, which has been proving her importance for the Polish community in the UK. Why is your support important to us?
We have been working on many projects, which were created thanks to people's commitment to them. Our heads are full of new projects. However, we are kept waiting with those projects requiring an office to implement them.
